Literature Review and Framework

This chapter explains the conceptual framework, research-based strategies for teaching mathematics, and how we situated existing theories in the context of teaching KLLs. Particularly, we frame this study within a modified Culturally Responsive Mathematics Teaching tool, which was developed as a teacher self-analysis tool by Aguirre and del Rosario Zavala (Pedagogies Int J 8:163–190, 2013). This chapter also describes the conceptual framework in detail with specific examples.
