Vehicle side impact sled test method

Several usual principles of pulse simulation are introduced and disadvantages of current techniques of the side impact sled test technique are pointed out in this paper.Consequently,combined with the velocity pulse characteristic of the door inner panel in side impact,this paper proposes a method of the side impact sled test based on dual-velocity level,which is carried out in actual engineering.Mathematical simulation shows that there is high correlation between the dummy injury value obtained from the sled test based on dual-velocity level pulse and that obtained the sled test using the door inner panel pluse directly.This new method can satisfy the engineering application.
