Compensation of ionospheric effects for InSAR stacks by means of a split-spectrum method

2021
Split-spectrum approaches have proven successful at estimating ionospheric corrections by modeling the differential contribution to the interferometric phase for spectral subbands. The accuracy of these methods can degrade pretty quickly for large temporal baselines due to the drop in interferometric coherence. We attempt to circumvent this problem by limiting the processing to a set of reliable pixels, namely those processed using a Persistent Scatterers Interferometry method. Preliminary results indicate that it is feasible to estimate the ionospheric corrections at the points of interest, taking advantage of the robustness of multi-temporal phase estimation as well as the unwrapping capabilities of PSI.
