The influence of pore size distribution on the properties of concretes containing mineral admixtures

2006
Important engineering properties of concrete, such as, strength, stiffness, shrinkage and creep are known to be closely related to porosity and pore size distribution; the mercury intrusion porosimetry is now widely employed for pore size analysis by concrete technologists because it is one of the simplest techniques. This paper presents the details of study undertaken at the Concrete Composites Laboratory of the Structural Engineering Research Centre (SEKC), Chennai, on the influence of indigenous flyash and silica fume on the pore structure, strength and transport properties of concrete.
