10-Deacetylbaccatin III analogues from Taxus baccata

The needles of the European yew, Taxus baccata, yielded two new analogues of 10-deacetylbaccatin III, identified as 13-epi-10-deacetylbaccatin III [4] and 2-debenzoyl-2-tigloyl-10-deacetylbaccatin III [5]. The crystal structure of baccatin III [6], corresponding to the terpenoid core of paclitaxel, was determined.
