A method for forming an image, the method comprising the steps of: - acquiring a first projection data set by means of a first group of detector units, wherein the first group comprises a first plurality of first detection units, wherein each of the first detector units having more than a given number of detector elements, - detecting a second projection data set by means of a second group of detector units, wherein the second group includes a second plurality of second detection units, wherein the second detector units each having at most the given number of detector elements, - reconstructing the first image data based on the first projection data set, - reconstructing the second image data based on the second projection data set, - combining the first image data and the second image data.
