Analysis of steroids in biological fluids by computer-aided gas-liquid chromatography—Mass spectrometry

1974
Abstract The analysis of complex steroid mixtures obtained from cow allantoic fluid, using an on-line computer-orientated GC MS system, is described. Identification of steroids is assisted by the computer automatically comparing each of a series of mass spectral profiles, obtained at 10-sec intervals from the steroid extract chromatographed, with the condensed spectral profiles of reference steroids stored in the computer. Complex GC peaks can be resolved to indicate the presence of compounds with similar GC retention time.
