A Study on the Sericulture Farm Automation System Using the Internet of Things (IoT)

2021
Sericulture is production of silk from silkworm. Central Silk Board (CSB) reports that India stands second in silk production next to China with 15–85%, respectively. This huge difference in silk production between these countries is the lack of automation in the Indian sericulture process. This is one such sector where automation has not been adopted in full-fledged use. The production of high-quality silk depends on the maintenance of environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity, light intensity, and gases in the threshold range in every rearing stage. “internet of things” (IoT) helps in maintaining the rearing environment. It provides the interconnection and tracking among the real-time objects through a network system. The sensors play a vital role in logically sensing the input and send data within the connected machines. This paper consolidates data from various research works on the implementation of smart automation techniques and methodology using IoT platforms in sericulture.
