Extraction of Sc with 1-Phenyl-3-Methyl-4-Benzoyl-5-Pyrazolone from HNO_3 Media

The solvent extraction behavior of the trace Sc was studied from nitric acid media with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (PMBP) as an extractant. It was found that the trace Sc can be extracted quantitatively into the organic phase from dilute nitric acid solutions. At the same time the contamination of the trace Sc in the thorium fraction separated from the solution of the uranium targets though PMBP extraction was discussed.
