관광개발(觀光開發)에 대한 지역주민(地域住民)의 집단행동(集團行動) 특성(特性)과 역할(役割) -제주도(濟州道) 예래동(猊來洞) 지역(地域)을 사례(事例)로-

This study was to explore the characteristics and roles of residents` collective action against a tourism development plan in the rural community of Yere, Jeju. The residents of the region experienced collective actions against government plan of sewage treatment plant development and holiday resort development during the 1990s and 2000s. Data were collected from exhaustive in-depth interviews with thirty residents of Yere, Jeju in 2009. Results showed that the collective actions of the residents played four important roles in their community. First, residents` collective actions contributed to preserving and strengthening the identity of the community. Secondly, the residents` efforts to participate in the collective actions enriched collective efficacy of each individuals and the community as a whole. Results also showed that in the process of collective actions, residents` attachment to the community was also formed Finally, the collective actions also made a contribution to the preservation of natural environment and see-sights.
