H.Hu,whoreceived hisdoctoratefromHarvardUniversityin1925andwasstronglyinfluencedbyArnoldArbore tumstaffmembers,includingC. S.Sargent,AlfredRehder,J. G.JackandE. D.Merrill.Thepaper discussestheroleoftheArnoldArboretumintheinitial,worldwidedistributionof Metasequoia glyptostroboides seedin1948,andfeaturesphotographsandmeasurementsofnotablespecimens growingattheArboretumtoday.
