Effects of 9, 10-Dimethyl-1,2-Benzanthracen (DMBA) on endocrine pancreas of the rats

2004
Many experimental models of carcinogenesis have been formed because many explorers aspired to find experimental model of prophylaxis for malignant diseases-that are increasing day by day. The aim of our research is the examination of micromorphological effect of 9,10-dimethyl-l,2-bensanthracen (DMBA) on endocrine pancreas of the rats and establishing of immunocitochemical characteristics A, B, D and F (PP) cells in the chemical carcinogenesis. 60 female Wistar rats, 45 days old were used in the experiment. Animals were divided into four experimental groups. The first and the third group were treated with DMBA for 30-60 days, and the second one and the fourth one were control groups. Analysis of our results has shown that DMBA has toxical effects on endocrine pancreas of the rats and that micromorphological and functional damage is proportional to the amount of applied dose of DMBA and the time exposition of experimental animal.
