the use of alternative resources in teaching science has generated discussions about the validation of these materials in the teaching-learning process. Educational games, for example, are considered as relevant pedagogical tools for students' cognitive, psychomotor and affective development, since they involve factors that are not limited to the simple elaboration of concepts, the result of traditional teaching, in which the teacher has the function of transmitting their scientific knowledge as "immutable and unquestionable truths." This article aims to report the application of an educational game called "What is the Bug?" to seventh year elementary education students from a school in the Dourados- M.S. and discuss about the use of these resources for the development of students, since they contemplate not only the cognitive domain, but also skills related to the affective and psychomotor domains. From the application of the game and through direct observation and an evaluation questionnaire, it was found that the games benefit the significant learning and still give the students an interactive environment, based on the established relationship between student-teacher-knowledge.
