A case of renal tubular acidosis associated with Graves' disease

2013
Distal renal tubular acidosis is characterized by a decrease in net hydrogenionsecretionfrom renal collecting tubules. The most common causes of distal renal tubular ac idosis in adults are autoimmune disorders, such as Sj ogren syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Compared to other autoimmune disorders, the concurrence of ren al tubular acidosis and autoimmune thyroid disease is extremely rare. We report a patient who prese nted with hypokalemic paralysis associated with Graves' disease and distal renal tubular acidosis.(Korean J Med 69:S915-S918, 2005)
