Acerca de la presencia de Thelotrema wightii (Taylor) Nyl. (Thelotremataceae, Ascomycotina) en el sur de Galicia (NW de Espana)

2000
Thelotrema wightii (Taylor) Nyl. (= T. leiospodium Nyl.) was found near the Southern Coast in Galicia (Spain). It would be appropriate to emphasise the restricted distribution of this taxon in Europe, where its presence was noticed only at four sites in the North of Portugal, the latest reference available dates to the 1950s (Tavares, 1956). Like the great majority of the species belonging to this genus are distributed over tropical and sub-tropical areas in America, Asia, Australia, and can even be found in Hawaii. The vulnerability of the little relic populations located to the SW of the European continent is a strong motive for their protection.
