Sunspace Performance within an Overall High Rise Building Retrofit

This paper gives a first evaluation of the thermal benefit due to a ventilation pre-heat sunspace, added on the south side of an apartment (approximately 25% energy savings in the Paris climate). This study is part of a detailed evaluation of an extensive retrofit of 593 apartments at DREUX (PARIS area) which has resulted in a 50% decrease in overall energy consumption. The principles of the method applied in this study are presented: measurements and computer code simulations (CALEC0/D0E2).
