The enthalpy of formation of silicon carbide by fluorine bomb calorimetry
1970
Abstract The energy of combustion of silicon carbide in fluorine was measured with samples of both hexagonal and cubic crystalline modifications. The standard enthalpies of formation ΔH f o (298.15 K) of the α (hexagonal) form and the β (cubic) form of silicon carbide were calculated to be (−17.23 ± 0.46) and (−17.49 ± 0.43) kcal mol −1 , respectively.
