Vascular Anatomy of the Pelvis

2020
Abstract The rich vascular supply of the pelvis supplies important organs and anatomical structures, thus making the study of its vascular system and its clinical relevance to our field important. We begin with a discussion of the arterial system at the level of the abdominal aorta and describe its bifurcation into the common iliac arteries. Enhanced review of anatomy encountered during uterine and prostate embolization procedures is included. On the venous side there is a brief discussion regarding the May-Thurner syndrome, which is increasingly diagnosed. All of this is supplemented with detailed anatomic figures and imaging, including angiographic images.
