Method and equipment for ensuring IP (Internet Protocol) continuity

The invention discloses a method and equipment for ensuring IP (Internet Protocol) continuity, and aims to solve the problem that the IP continuity cannot be ensured since IP streams transmitted through PDN (Packet Data Network) connection established before reestablishment are all interrupted during execution of SIPTO (Selected IP Traffic Offload) under an existing mechanism. The method comprises the following steps that: a terminal determines a PDN connection which does not require the initiation of a deactivation process carrying a reactivation request during execution of an SIPTO function with network side equipment; and the terminal informs the network side equipment of the determined PDN connection in order that the network side equipment does not initiate the deactivation process carrying the reactivation request for the PDN connection which is relevant with an APN (Access Point Name) and does not require the initiation of the deactivation process carrying the reactivation request during execution of the SIPTO function when the network side equipment executes the SIPTO. Thus, the transmission of long-lifecycle IP streams/real-time IP streams is ensured, and the service experience of a user is improved.
