Plant manager's responsibilities in air pollution control

1956
In virtually all functions which are connected with plant operation the plant manager finds himself in a pivotal position which requires him to accept the decisions of his management, translate them into action within his own plant, and eventually report the results back to his superiors. Control of air and stream pollution is no exception, and in recent years has attained a position of importance comparable to the other chief control areas of plant management. In the case of pollution abatement, however, the responsibility broadens in scope to include the public at large and control agencies and officials, as well as his own plant organization and management. He is the key man in assuring that air pollution control is effectively being carried out, since he is in the best position to evaluate the demands and requirements of all these groups in a specific situation.
