Fault diagnosis for wind turbine systems using unknown input observer

2019
Over the past two years there has been an increase in research of great significance in fault diagnosis. Faults recorded in dynamic systems are caused by malfunction of actuators sensors or other system components. In this paper a robust approach to fault diagnosis of a wind turbine system using unknown input observers is proposed. The observer developed is sensitive to wind turbine model faults. It is also robust to disturbances in the system. The benchmark model has a total of four faults which are one actuator fault and three sensor faults. The fault detection approach developed is applied to the benchmark model of the wind turbine with the faults introduced. The simulation results show that it was sensitive to faults and robust to disturbances.
