Intrapartum management of twin gestation

1989
Consistent antenatal diagnosis of twin gestation permits preparation for optimal intrapartum management. Reevaluation of maternal and fetal complications more common in this setting, or fetal complications unique to multiple gestation, is imperative. With careful evaluation of fetal well-being, including dual continuous fetal heart rate monitoring, the majority of twins can be delivered safely by the vaginal route.
