Luminescent properties of complexes and polymers of Sm (III)

Abstract The β-diketonate complexes of Sm(III) (SmL3.2H2O) , heteroligand complexes with phenanthroline and dipyridyl ( SmL3.Phen, SmL3.Dipy ) where L = 2-methyl-5-phenyl-1-penten-dione-3,5 (mphpd), 2-methyl-5-biphenylpentene-1-dione-3,5 (mbphpd) were synthesized. The complexes were fully characterized using FTIR and thermal analyses. Absorption, diffuse reflectance and emission spectra for the complexes were recorded. The relationship between complex structure and the intensity of fluorescence emission was established.
