Chylothorax is a condition characterized by pleural effusion secondary to injury or blockage of the thoracic duct. The volume of drained chyle is influenced by the lipids present in the diet (enteral or oral nutrition), so rest of the gastrointestinal tract is a common practice in this population. At present, there is no consensus about the feeding path associated with a lower output of chylous and a more accelerated recovery.
