Study on Influences of Climatic Adaptive Window on Indoor Thermal Environment

2010
As the major component of building envelope, external window plays the function of insulating and exchanging light and heat with outside environment, which is very important for the building to regulate the indoor thermal comfort, improve the indoor air quality and supply necessary lighting. In the subtropical area, for building energy conservation, the heat insulation in summer as well as heat preservation in winter with special climatic characteristics should be taken into account.Consequently,it is most significant of all to realize energy-saving design for external window. In this paper, taking the Building Sample Application Projects of Renewable Energy Sources Supported by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Finance Ministry as an example,a new climatic adaptive window conception in different directions of building envelope for subtropical area was proposed with the application of building construction technology.Based on the computer simulation and measurement, the windows' effectiveness of heat insulation in summer and heat preservation in winter was verified. As a result, the heat receiving advantages of window were strengthened and its adverse effects were weakened according to the regional climate conditions, and therefore,a new design method for external window in subtropical area was provided.
