Characterisation and evaluation of iridium cobaltite oxygen-evolving electrodes: influence of composition and temperature of preparation
1993
Abstract A catalytically active titanium electrode (CATE) based on ‘mixed-crystal’ oxides of cobalt and iridium was prepared by pyrolysis of cobalt and iridium chlorides. The electrodes were tested electrochemically under the O 2 evolution condition, employing cyclic voltammetric and galvanostatic accelerated polarisation techniques in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 . The structural and morphological aspects were also analysed using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. From the data collected, the optimum composition and temperature were determined. The results are correlated and discussed.
