Particle analysis by SEM/EDS is an integration combining SEM image acquisition, processing and evaluation with the EDS analysis and chemical classification of the feature of interest. The ever growing hunger for information and representative data in the information age has also pushed SEM based particle analysis for more data in less time for various reasons. Some applications use this method for quality assurance or grading, others purely to make better profits by adding another control mechanism in production. To keep up with production and increasing recognition of the method has put pressure on the speed of this type of analysis.
