Globalización y músicas populales en América Latina cumbia, vallenato y músicas del mundo

2014
This research focuses on the symbolic musical production of Latin American countries, particularly on the Argentinian cumbia villera and several popular musical expressions of the Colombian Caribbean, in order to analyze its role in the shaping of the nation, its relation to hegemonic places and the inclusion of regionalism in transnational scenarios as part of the recent globalization. Thus, this study is developed based on a hermeneutical approach, and taking into account political, socio cultural and discursive elements, which contribute to a comparative analysis of categories such as nation, race, class, production and culture.
