Space group and unit cell dimensions of malea to complexes of zinc and nickel.

1972
Crystals of anionic complexes with the chem. formula H2(M(mal)2).4H2O were obtained by the slow evapn. of a 1:2 soln. of metal hydroxide with maleic acid in a small amt. of water. The divalent ion, M, is Ni or Zn and mal is the maleate ion. Rotation and Weissenberg photographs taken about 2 prominent zone axes for the crystals of Zn maleate and Ni maleate showed neither mirror symmetry nor rotation symmetry, thereby revealing that the crystals belong to the triclinic system. For Zn maleate the cell parameters are a 5.36, b 7.29, c 9.73 A, I± 63°18', I² 110°48', and I³ 103°36'. For Ni maleate the cell parameters are a 5.20, b 7.48, c 9.75 A, I± 60°12', I² 104°54', and I³ 102°24'. [on SciFinder(R)]
