Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of urothelial tumors of the upper urinary tract.

1995
: Fifty-two percutaneous and 41 ureteroscopic procedures for upper tract tumor were performed in 61 patients. In 23 patients the procedure was primarily a diagnostic evaluation due to widespread papillomatosis or invasiveness, in the rest it was therapeutic. In two patients the tumor progressed and a nephroureterectomia was performed. Complications were minimal and transient, and no spreading of tumor due to endoscopy was seen. Endoscopic management is a conservative renal sparing treatment option in urothelial upper tract tumors.
