Access device with multiple lumens.

2000
An access device with multiple lumens for medical purposes, comprising: an infusion introducer (735, 762, 782, 822, 848) having an access tube with a proximal end and a distal end for introduction into the body, introducer includes a hub (742) connected to the proximal end of the access tube and hemostasis valve in a fixed location within the hub that provides a seal around medical implements that are introduced or removed from the body through the lumen tube access; a catheter (734, 764, 788, 842) including a catheter tube (404) and a junction housing (736) at the proximal end of the catheter tube, the junction housing having a proximal end and a distal end and includes a main channel (444) and at least one independent auxiliary channel (446) of the main channel, both the main channel and the auxiliary are in fluid communication with at least one lumen (426, 428) defined in the catheter tube; and a multi-function adapter (730, 766, 786, 826, 828, 850) having a first unit (730a, 766a) and a complementary second unit (730b, 766b) for coupling the catheter (734) to the hub of the infusion introducer (736) such that the catheter tube passes through the hemostasis valve into the access tube lumen, the first unit is attached to the junction and the second unit is fixed to the hub, where the first unit is you can connect so you can remove the second unit so that the introducer become an introducer infusion device multiple lumen access through the main channel and the auxiliary in the junction; characterized in that the introducer further includes a side arm (744) which opens distally with respect to the hemostasis valve for introducing a medical solution into the access tube lumen.
