10 Gbit/s repeaterless transmission over 250 km standard fibre

The authors demonstrate experimentally 10 Gbit/s repeaterless transmission at 1.55 /spl mu/m over the record length of 250 km standard singlemode fibre using pre-distorted ASK transmission and a dispersion compensating fibre in the receiver.
