Analysis and Optimization of High Frequency Loss Caused by Non-uniform Magnetic Field

With frequency rising, winding loss becomes the most serious part in magnetic component. There are four types of winding loss caused by non-uniform magnetic field, such as air-gap fringing loss, irrational layout of transformer loss, adjacent seam of PCB winding loss and terminal loss. In this paper, the loss mechanisms are discussed in detail and effective optimizations on these losses are proposed correspondently. Finally, a high frequency integrated matrix magnetics was successfully developed under the abovementioned winding loss optimization methodology on a server power with 12V/1000W output.
