Expression of survivin in placenta tissues of patients with pregnancy induced typertension

Objective:To observe the expression of survivin in placenta and to evaluate its role in the pathogenesis of pregnancy induced hypertension(PIH).Methods:The survivin in normal and PIH placenta was determined by immunohistochemistry.The mean density was determind by image analysis technique.Results:Survivin was mostly found in syncytiotrophoblast,cytotrophoblast and amnio chorion.The strongest imuo reactivity was observed in the syncytiotrophoblast and cytotrophoblast.The mean density of survivin in PIH placenta(0.324±0.033)was significantly lower than that in normal placenta(0.390±0.042),P0.05.Conclus-ion:Reduced survivin expression in placenta may have an important role in the pathogensis in PIH.
