Field dependence of hydrogen adsorption
1992
Abstract The variation with electric field strength of hydrogen adsorption on the surface of a nickel rich alloy was studied by varying the specimen temperature during atom probe analysis between 90 and 25 K. It was found that adsorption was largest at about 50 K and had almost disappeared at 25 K, corresponding to a critical field for chemisorption of slightly more than 3.55 V/A. The result is in approximate agreement with the prediction of Hellsing and Hellsing's theoretical model.
