BLOOD GLUCOSE DETECTION:A COMPARISON BETWEEN PORTABLE GLUCOMETER AND AUTOMATIC BIOCHEMICAL ANALYZER

2012
Objective To compare the results of blood glucose detected by portable glucometer and automatic biochemical analyzer and evaluate the accuracy of the former one. Methods Glucometer(Accu-Chek Performa,Roche) and automatic biochemical analyzer(HITACHI 7600) were used to separately measure blood glucose and plasma glucose of 52 samples of whole venous blood, the results detected by the two instruments were compared. Results The difference of blood sugar levels detected between the two instruments was not significant(P0.05),the results of blood sugar between the two groups were highly correlated(r=0.996,P0.01).Using portable glucometer,in samples with blood glucose 4.2 mmol/L,the error range was ±0.34 mmol/L,and in samples with blood glucose ≥4.2 mmol/L,the percentage of error range was-11.09%-12.48%.Conclusion Accu-Chek Performa glucometer can meet the standards of accuracy approved by Ministry of Public Health.
