Multibiosensor on the Basis of Yeast Cells for Detection of Glucose and Sucrose in Aqueous Solutions

2007
A multichannel biosensor based on capacitive structures of electrolyte - insulator - semiconductor type with ion-sensitive layer of silicon nitride and disposable alginate membranes with immobilized yeast cells of the three different yeast cultures for simultaneous determination of glucose and sucrose concentration have been developed. Principle of multibiosensor operation is based on selectivity of used yeast cells towards carbohydrates and proportional generation of acid when they are used by yeast cells as a substrate. Measurable glucose and sucrose concentration range is 2-30 mM and 2-50 mM correspondingly. Accuracy of glucose and sucrose detection in these ranges is about 5-10 %.
