DESIGNING PARKING WEB SITES : BE CAREFUL, YOU CAN CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS THAN YOU FIX

2002
This article offers suggestions on how to design a Web site for an academic parking operation to communicated with its campus users. To work well, they need to convey a clear purpose, be up to date (which makes them credible), have an easy navigation system, be restrictive of over-busy graphics, provide links high up in the text and avoid too many Internet gimmicks. The best way to start is with a piece of paper listing all the information to be conveyed and put in outline form. Consistency is also important. The ultimate usability should be confirmed by in-person testing by volunteers whose experiences on the site are observed and evaluated.
