Analytical Comments on Radial Tire Nonuniformity

1996
Abstract A circular eccentric serves as a useful model for simulating radial nonuniformities in tires. A belt model for radial tires has been utilized to study the dynamic responses to such nonuniformities. For direct experimental verifications, a special tire was made, with variable belt stiffnesses in the circumferential direction. The analysis presented in this paper is confined to only the most important radial nonuniformities. Force run‐out formulas are given and related topics are discussed. Statistical views are applied in processing the experimental uniformity samples. It can be concluded that radial nonuniformities are mutually correlated while the others are not. A power transform is suggested to attain normality in simultaneous and marginal sample distributions.
