Innovations into Office Technology and Management of Business Education Programme of Nigerian Universities for Demand Driven Employment of Graduates in Relevant Industries

The study focused on innovations into office technology and management of business education programme of Nigerian universities for demand driven employment of graduates in relevant industries. The study was carried out in south eastern Nigeria. Three research questions guided the study. Descriptive research design was used for the study. The population of the study was 166 lecturers of office technology and management/business education and office technology or business education graduates in the field. There was no sampling because of the manageable size of the population. An unstructured questionnaire was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by three experts. Cronbach alpha reliability method was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire items while a reliability coefficient of 0.84 was obtained. One hundred and sixty six copies of the instrument were administered on the respondents by the researchers and the research assistants on oneto- one basis. One hundred and fifty one copies of the questionnaire were retrieved and used for analysis. Mean was used to analyse data for answering the research questions while t-test was employed for testing hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study identified relevant innovations and competencies to be taught to students of office technology and management for relevance at workplace. It was recommended that all the innovations and competencies identified should be included into office technology and management option of business education in Nigerian universities
