Microwave Synthesis of Mgse for Zn1-xMgxse Crystal Growth

2013
The microwave (MW) synthesis of MgSe in the solid-phase interaction of magnesium and selenium is proposed. The interaction under MW heating starts 120–180 seconds after the beginning of irradiation and is accompanied by a nearly instantaneous heating of the mixture to 700–800°C, resulting in the fabrication of MgSe powders with face-centered cubic lattice (a = 5.462 A). The magnesium selenide obtained is used as a charge for growing ZnMgSe crystals. The distribution of the cation sublattice elements in the grown crystal is determined.
