Control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor drives with cyclic fluctuating load

In order to improve the rotation speed ripple of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) under speed sensorless control with cyclic fluctuating load, suitable motor output torque control method should be investigated. A rotor flux oriented vector control with model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based rotor position/speed estimation is employed as the basic control strategy for IPMSM drive. To lower the speed ripple, a motor output torque pattern matching the cyclic fluctuating load is also developed. The basic principle and implementation of this pattern is presented in detail. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control methods.
