TEACHING MICROSOFT CERTIFICATIONS AT IS PROGRAMS

2004
Computer professional certification is playing a bigger role in the computer job industry. Different companies are requiring one computer certification or another as pre-condition to employment. Despite this increase in the role of computer certification in the job market, academic programs remain reluctant to incorporate programs that prepare the students for such certifications. This paper is to discuss the applicability of computer certifications to Information Systems (IS) programs. It will compare objectives set in one of the certifications with learning units established in a standard curriculum and will draw conclusions based on the same comparison.
