A unique amino acid sequence of A κ-chain obtained from a patient with adult Fanconi syndrome: A new subset sequence ☆
1977
Abstract The amino-terminal sequence of the first 46 positions of Bence Jones protein Vand was determined to be Glu Ile Val Met Thr Gln Ser Pro Ala Thr Leu Ser Val Ser Pro Gly Glu Arg Ala Thr Leu Ser Cys Arg Ala Ser Gln Asx Ile Gly Ser Asn Leu Ala Trp Tyr Glx Glx Lys Pro Gly Arg Ala Pro Arg Leu. Comparison of this sequence with those of other human κ-chain showed the Vand sequence to be a unique one. Although the Vand sequence is most similar to that V κ III among four known V κ subgroups, there are several distinct differences between Vand and V κ III. Comparison of the amino acid composition of Bence Jones protein Vand with the compositions of other κ-chains of four known subgroups showed a significantly higher alanine content for protein Vand. Any association of amino acid sequence and amino acid composition of protein Vand with adult (or acquired) Fanconi syndrome remains to be determined.
