A Circular WireAntenna forUltra WidebandApplications

A novelcircular wireantennasuitable forultra wideband (UWB)applications ispresented inthis paper. It consists ofacircularly curved wire over aground plane. The wirestructure isdesigned todeliver approximately thesame benefits as a circular discantenna.Effective length is introduced to analyze theoperation of theantenna. Experimental results oftheantennahavedemonstrated the antennaachieves an impedance bandwidth from3.1to10.6 GHz witha returnlossoflessthan-6dB.Thisantenna provides omni-directional radiation patterns consistently over theoperating frequencies. Further more,transient response of theantennaismeasured tovalidate thesuitability forUWB communication.
