Evaluación de la Corrosividad Atmosférica en la Ciudad de Poza Rica Veracruz

2014
Faculty of Chemistry and the Institute of Engineering of the Universidad Veracruzana have developed a project for the construction of the map of corrosivity of the State of Veracruz, where the city of Poza Rica, located north of the state, has industrial and oil activities, making it important to evaluate the atmospheric corrosion of different metallic materials and alloys exposed to the atmosphere. The studies were done through the direct effect of the atmosphere on flat specimens of aluminum (Al), copper (Cu) , carbon steel (Fe) and galvanized (Zn) installed on a display panel adjustable applying ISO standards and electrochemical methods. The electrochemical evaluation was done in each season through techniques, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), polarization resistance (LPR), polarization curves (CP). Finally, XRD studies were made to know the corrosion products formed in the metal superfice. The results obtained by ISO standards and electrochemical methods denote high atmospheric corrosivity to copper, steel and galvanized attributable to selective attack the main producing aggressive agents such as SO2, chlorides and SiO2. XRD studies demonstrate the formation of corrosion products (metal oxides).
