The E(1+-)/h′1 (1.41) and Related Mesons

1991
Old and New data on E/f 1 (1420) by WA Collaboration are examined by critically reviewing their analyses of the data. It is shown that their estimates of the background are unreasonably large in both data. After correcting these defects, it is shown from the old data that the resonance in question has J PC =1 +- and hence it can properly be identified with h' 1 (1.41), i.e., the partner of h 1 (1180±10), in contrast to their assertion. As for new data, they are so crude that one cannot use them to determine the J PC assignment of the relevant resonance. However, it is pointed out that the data have the common features as the old ones which are characteristic to the 1 +- rather than the 1 +- meson. Questionable points of the data and their treatments are disclosed in the course of studies. Finally, critical remarks are presented for the lowest axial vector meson nonet
