The Irregularity of Soil Disturbance Depth by Circular and Rotating Tillage Tools

1976
ABSTRACT THE depth of tillage is an important factor in the disturbance and mixing of soil and in the cutting of roots. Tillage tools with rounded shapes or rotary motions cut paths of irregular depth. A knowledge of the soil-tool geometry for such tools will provide the means for design and use of tools for achievement of critical depths of tillage. Methods were developed for determination of the irregularities of the bottom of the tilled layer of soil caused by a large class of tillage tools. The information is important in the design and use of these tillage tools.
