Characteristic Mode Analysis of a Conformal Patch Mounted on the Stratified Cylinder

Recently conformal microstrip antennas with arbitrarily shaped surfaces mounted on the stratified cylinder can be efficiently simulated by mixed potential integral equation with stratified cylindrical Green's function. To clearly understand the physical insight of such structures, theory of characteristic modes (TCM) is applied to analyze a conformal patch mounted on the stratified cylinder. The resonant frequencies are compared to demonstrate the feasibility and accuracy of the approach.
