The study of tribochemical processes in polyphenylquinoxalines of different chemical structure by mass spectrometry
1984
Products from polyphenylquinoxalines of various chemical structures, evolved under friction, were identified by mass spectrometry. It was shown that the products evolved are characteristic of deep tribo-degradation of the polyphenylquinoxaline structures, involving both the main chain and the lateral substituents. It was found that as the flexibility of the main chain decreases, its decay rate decreases and becomes less than the rates of the parallel processes of dephenylation and dehydrogenation. Comparison of the data obtained with the wear-resistance of these polymers indicates the presence of a link between the rate of main chain decay and the wearing of the polymers.
